From "Made Up Dollhouse" to "Natural Beauty"

Hello Everyone, for those who don't know my wonderful husband and I just bought our first house 5 days before our wedding!!!! It was a stressful and LONG process but we finally got exactly what we wanted, a "fixer upper" in a nice well established neighborhood for a good price! I, being crafty and somewhat of an artist of sorts, have always dreamed of getting a "fixer upper" and making it my own! With help from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (gotta give credit where credit is due!) , as well as our wonderful real estate agent, Janice, our awesome loan broker, Jeff, and of course my Husband we own exactly what we were looking for!!

The house had been empty for quite some time we have gathered from the responses such as " thank you so much for buying this house we were tired of seeing grass above our waist!". Or my personal favorite from the little "wolf pack" of boys in the neighborhood "aw man someone lives there now, but they have the BEST backyard ever!" (apparently our back yard and porch has been quote the play ground and fort for the neighborhood kids while it has been empty!)

Any who firsts things first on the list to "fixing ups" was the paint job... it was somewhat HORRIBLE. It seems that the previous owners or lack there of only painted one half of the house on one side, so of course the wood trip and siding was ROTTING! So with that be somewhat of major deal we decided that was one project that had to be done first! SO off to Home Depot we went to pick out colors! We decided we wanted to do with a very natural earthy theme for the house, it just seemed it fit with the neighborhood feel! The original colors
were only slightly terrible being that we think they were going for a "doll house" type look with the tan base color and bright blue shutters and doors. Here is a before picture of our home and what it looked like the day we bought it!

Okay so not super horrible, but not good either. Also those bright fire bushes are going to be gone in the spring!

We picked out for the base of the house a color called "Dusty Olive". It is a very subtle chalky sage green color that is very nice contrast to the tan that once was. For the Shutters and doors we picked out a "Chocolate Brown" and for the trim a "Creamy Cream". Here are the shutters with their new makeover!

Much better yes? We thought so! The credit all goes to Phillip Raines and his company Colorvations Inc. If you ever need any painting or exterior repairs we would HIGHLY recommend him and his team! They were wonderful, we left for our honeymoon and the house was one color and we came back and it was completely transformed. All the work is very high quality and done very professionally! If you need his number shoot me an email and I'd be happy to give it to you!
Seriously cannot say enough good things about Phillip and the Colorvations team! ( all of these pics are courtesy of my mom, I was in Mexico when the actual work was being done just relaxing by the beach ;) ! )
Here is the final product, okay please ignore the sun spots and quality of the shot, I shot it on my camera! It looks must more green in this picture then it really is, but I think you get the point! I will get a better shot this weekend on my good camera and post it for y'all!
Also did I mention how Blessed we are? God has really provided both emotionally, mentally, physically and psychologically this year for us. We have been so over whelmed with His blessings that He seems to be showering down on us time and time again! We cannot give Him enough credit for everything we have been able to accomplish this year through Him and by Him. He is our everything day in and day out we depend on Him and are constantly reminded how much we do! Thank you God for everything you continue to give to us, may we use it to further glorify your kingdom in the way you intend for us to without question or doubt!

Did I also mention that we are parents now? Another gift God has showered us with this year is our new baby Apollo. Along with how the house is coming along I will post little posts and pictures of Apollo and his progress! This week Apollo has learned his name, mostly crate trained himself , and overall is just being the apple of every ones eye, but how could he not be with this face?
Apollo is 8 weeks old and just got his first checkup! He is a full blooded Red Siberian Husky and is now AKC Certified! He is the apple of our eyes and the sunshine to our days currently, and we don't think that will ever change!

God Bless to all this Thanksgiving Week! Tune in next time for "Project NEW CARPET" which is already complete but I think if I blogged it now my husband might kill me because I've been on here too long already! SO with that said goodnight all , I'll catch ya next time!
